Pressure Relief Valve Technician II

Caltrol is hiring an experienced Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) Technician Level II in Benicia, CA.

*Prior repair and assembly experience with Pressure Protection Products is required to qualify for this position. *You will perform maintenance, repair, testing, and troubleshooting for a variety of relief valve pumps, tank vents, and other Pressure Protection Products in both the Caltrol VR shop and in the field at customer sites.

You must be able to travel, have a valid driver's license in good standing, and an excellent driving record. This is a safety-sensitive position. You are required to pass a pre-screen drug test that includes testing for marijuana, and may be subject to random testing.

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00 (base) p/hour + Quarterly Profit Sharing.This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position.

What you'll be doing:

  • Performs Field and Shop Service duties that include:

    • Repair and assembly of PRV's and other protection products.

    • Provide troubleshooting assistance in the Caltrol shop and in the field.

    • Solid understandingof quality control, documenation, and compliance with NBIC and ASME standards and practices.

  • Work closely withRepair Coordinator(s) assigned to support the area.

  • Recommending appropriate corrective actions based on equipment evaluation.

  • Local Pick Up and Drop Off of valves as needed.

  • Adhere to proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines

  • May assist with shop assembly needs, shipping and receiving, and inventory management needs.

  • Conduct customer training.

  • Interact with customers to promote service business and assist with customer problem resolution.

  • Interact with customers, factory and Caltrol Service Team to develop process improvement and increased customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.

  • Valid Driver License, excellent driving record, and the ability to safely operate company vehicles.

  • 3-5 years' experience as a field service technician, instrumentation technician, and/or demonstration of general electrical/mechanical competency.

  • A working knowledge of process controls.

  • Works well under pressure: sometimes meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines.

  • Dedication to customer service excellence.

  • Ability to read and interpret written work instructions, P&IDs, technical data, and technical manuals.

  • Basic knowledge and use of personal computers and MS Office.

  • Ability to obtain TWIC card and other required refinery and DOT certifications.

  • Willingness to work overtime as situation requires.

  • Knowledge of products from major valve and instrumentation companies a plus!

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Position requires frequent reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching and squatting. Good visual and auditory acuity. Ability to understand and safely use hand tools. Use of Personal Protective Equipment when required. Proper use of hand tools. Ability to work on elevated platforms and confined spaces. Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel:

Weekly regional travel within the Caltrol territory (CA, AZ, NV). Periodic overnight travel.
